Established in 1982
M’lang Water District was started in 1977 by the Ministry of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The system started to operate under the management of the Municipal Government until which the Municipal Council of M’lang passed a resolution creating M’lang Water District on its joint meeting held at Barangay New Janiuay, M’lang, Cotabato last March 15, 1982. The District acquired its Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC No. 209) last August 6, 1982 after expansions and improvements with its existing water system facilities.
In 2003, Mlang Water District was able to receive a grant from the Office of Congressman Gregorio T. Ipong worth Three Million Pesos (Php 3,000,000.00). The grant constructed a new elevated steel tank with a capacity of 200 cubic meters located at Barangay Sangat, Mlang, Cotabato.
In year 2009, Mlang Water District implemented and constructed a new project thru a grant from Japanese Government – JICA and with the cooperation of Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). The GOJ assisted project constructed a 30 cu.m. elevated steel tank at Barangay Bagontapay.
Benefiting from the grants received by the District, Mlang Water District has extended its water supply to nearby barangays. Presently, M’lang Water District has 3 pumping stations: Poblacion Pumping Station, Sangat Pumping Station and Bagontapay Pumping Station. Gradual expansions were being made to provide adequate water supply and to cater the demand of the growing population within the coverage areas of M’lang Water District.
